Match guidance
How does matching work?
The Scoutship matching engine uses your preferences and qualifications to match you with roles.
Preferences
Your preferences are used to identify which roles may be a good fit for you. Preferences which guide our matching engine include:
Type of role
Level of role
Employment type
Preferred industries
Industries you don't want to work in
Employment level
Level of responsibility
Preferred work location
Preferred time zone
Minimum compensation
Employer size
Employers you don't want to work for
Qualifications
Employers are asked to indicate what qualifications are required to be successful in a role. You will only be shown roles for which you meet the minimum qualifications, including:
Industry experience
Skills
Language
The matching engine relies on the qualifications indicated in your profile to determine if you meet the required qualifications for a role. Complete you profile for more accurate matches. Learn more here.
Role location and work authorization
Employers are asked to indicate if they are able and willing to support hiring of candidates without the necessary authorization to work in a role's location.
Candidates will only match with roles when they:
Already have the necessary authorization (as indicated in their profile)
The employer has the necessary authorization to employ the candidate in the candidate's current location
The employer is able and willing to sponsor the necessary authorization to hire the candidate either in the candidate's current location or support a move to the role's location
For example, a candidate living in Toronto, Canada who is open to remote work may match with U.S.-based companies who have indicated that they are able and willing to hire a remote worker based in Canada.
How can I increase the number of matches?
Since matches are driven by your preferences and qualifications, to increase the quantity of matches we recommend exploring how flexible your preferences can be and taking steps to boost your qualifications.
The best way to get the most out of our matching engine is to complete you profile and keep it up to date. Learn more about managing your profile.
Actions that typically produce more matches:
