Sponsored Searches

Guide to sponsored searches

Sponsored searches incentivize the entire Scoutship network to help employers find the perfect match by offering a reward to the user who provides a referral who is hired for the role.

Sponsored searches appear on the Sponsored Searches Tab of the Rewards Page.

A sponsored search is an offer to provide a reward for a successful referral to a specific role. If the role is not filled on the Scoutship platform, no reward is paid out.

Sponsored search awards are denominated in Scoutcoin, Scoutship's ecosystem token. Employers who sponsor a search are required to pay all rewards in Scoutcoin.

When setting a sponsored search reward an employer does not need to have the full value of the reward in their wallet. When a reward is triggered and an employer does not have enough Scoutcoin to settle the reward, the employer will have 2 days to earn, transfer or purchase additional Scoutcoin.

How sponsored searches work

The sponsorship status of a role can be set when the role is created and updated at any time from the role page by entering a sponsorship reward amount.

Sponsored searches appear on the Sponsored Searches Tab of the Rewards Page. For each sponsored search, users can view the role's title and location, the employer's name, and any specific skills required.

The sponsored search reward incentivizes users to identify any member of their network who might be a good fit for the role and onboard them to Scoutship. Users are assigned a unique referral code upon account creation. When an account is created with a referral code, the new account owner is assigned to the referral code holder’s talent pool. Users are rewarded whenever a member of their talent vault is hired on the platform. Users collect the sponsored search reward if one was offered on the role.

Reward payouts

The reward amount offered may be adjusted at any time from the role page for that role by any authorized member of the employer's workspace. However, to bridge the time between when a particular referral is onboarded and when that referral is hired, the reward owed on a sponsored search is the greater of:

  • The current reward amount

  • The reward amount offered at the time the user who was hired joined the Scoutship platform

Reward payouts are structured to incentivize employers to be honest about how much they are willing to pay to sponsor a search and prevent last minute changes to the reward before a hire is made.
