Frequently asked questions

You've got questions. We've got answers.

Is Scoutship really anonymous?

Until the moment an employer accepts a match we keep things as anonymous as possible. Unlike job or resume boards, you will only see candidates who meet your requirements. Pre-match, we never share a candidate's name, contact information, age, gender or race.

You'll have the opportunity to assess a candidate's anonymized profile on the strength of the candidate's skills, experience and education to confirm it's a good fit for the role. Once a match is made, we share the candidate's name and contact information so you can get the conversation going.

Why is Scoutship anonymous?

Anonymity is at the heart of Scoutship for a simple reason: we believe that when candidates and employers are able to be transparent, everyone ends up with better matches.

Many of our candidates are (understandably) reluctant to share publicly the details that are critical to finding a role they are happy with, such as the minimum compensation required. Others simply want to be able to keep an eye on potential opportunities without alerting their employer.

Many of our employer partners are (understandably) reluctant to be fully transparent in job posts that the whole world can see. Important details like how flexible an employer can be on compensation and on the location of the role are buried in meaninglessly wide ranges or left out entirely. We appreciate that sensitive roles, where an indiscrete job post could tip the competition to an employer's strategy, are especially difficult to navigate.

By defaulting to anonymity, we empower our candidates and employers to be as open as possible. Employers get better matches, with more candidates, while keeping the things that should be private, private.

Who can see roles I post?

Unlike job boards or other job search platforms, only the candidates who meet your role's requirements will be shown your role.

How does the matching process work?

We believe in quality over quantity of matches. A good match should feel like you've found the candidate you had in mind when your drafted the job post.

To create that experience we only share anonymized profiles of candidates that meet your requirements and who have expressed an interest in working with your specific organization or an organization just like yours. You'll have the opportunity to assess the anonymized profile on the strength of the candidate's skills, experience and education to confirm it's a good fit for the role. When you accept a match, we lift the veil and share the candidate's name and contact information.

What happens if I don't contact a match?

When a match has been made you have three days to reach out to the candidate and start a conversation. If you need more time please let us know by selecting Need More Time on Role Page or please email us with the subject "Match".

If you haven't contacted the candidate after three days and we haven't heard from you we'll consider it a missed match. Out of respect for the candidates and employers on our platform, organizations that accumulate missed matches may be asked to leave the platform.

How did my jobs get posted on Scoutship?

We try to provide job seekers with the latest and most relevant jobs related to their search. Scoutship selects certain job postings for top startups, pulling directly from your careers page, and directs interested candidates to your applicant tracking system.

If you remove a job from your careers page, it may not be unpublished on Scoutship.

If there are jobs listed on Scoutship that you feel should be removed, you may remove them by visiting your team's workspace. If you haven't set up your team's workspace follow these instructions to get started.

Is Scoutship a recruiting agency?

Nope. We're a platform that helps top talent match with roles from the world's best companies. We don't do screenings, assessments or hiring on behalf of other companies.

How does Scoutship make money?

We charge a platform access fee to companies that wish to connect with their matches. Our pricing reflects our belief that companies shouldn't be punished for hiring great candidates. There are no additional fees for posting jobs, contacting candidates or making a hire.

Is there a way to search candidates?

So you noticed there's no search bar?

One of the ways we're different from other candidate discovery services is our choice not to make the roles and candidates on our platform searchable. Instead we leverage our matching process to focus your attention on the candidates that meet your requirements and are genuinely excited to talk to you. We do this to protect your anonymity and to empower both candidates and employers to be transparent with what they're looking for without fear that everyone can see it.
