The communities that see the most success in paid subscriptions are clear about what subscribers get for their money. When creating your plan, be clear about what's included and for how long. The most common subscription model offers partners the opportunity to place one or more open roles on a Community Page for a set period of time.
When designing subscription plans don't be afraid to leverage your unique community assets. As long as your subscription complies with our , you can create and sell subscriptions for services that don't rely, or only rely in part, on Scoutship through your Community Page.
For example, a newsletter-based community might offer a paid subscription that includes promoting an open role on the Community Page as well as a mention in the newsletter and on their social media.
To maximize your reach and help your potential partners find the right option for their needs, we recommend 2-3 plans at different price points. Offering plans at multiple price points helps segment partners by their willingness to pay and enables communities to provide introductory trials and opportunities to upsell. Stripe’s Good-Better-Best framework is a helpful guide.
As an example, a newsletter-based community might consider offering:
Free plan: Once per month the community will review a company’s open roles and consider adding a role to the its Community Page if it’s interesting and relevant to the community.
Target audience: Companies who haven’t worked with the community before
Price: Free
Basic plan: Promote one role on the Community Page per month. Includes one mention in an issue of the community's newsletter.
Target audience: Smaller companies with limited hiring needs
Price: $49-$99/month
Volume plan: Promote 2-3 roles on the Community Page per month. Includes one mention in 2-3 issues of the community newsletter.
Target audience: Larger companies with consistent hiring needs
Price: $199-$249/month
The most successful communities have a clear plan for immediately engaging and supporting new partners. Once you've been alerted a new subscription we recommend:
Quickly reach out to the new subscriber to thank them for their subscription, introduce your community and explain next steps.
Identify the role(s) the subscriber wants placed on your Community Page.
If the subscriber hasn't yet created the role in Scoutship, direct them to the resources they need to get started.
Locate the role(s) on the subscriber's Company Page. Select the role(s) to be added to the Community Page.
